This blog is written by Karen and Brad. It is about KB Ranch and our experiences relocating, building a new house, and crafting a new lifestyle in the wide open rangeland of the desert southwest.<\/p>\n
We moved here in January, 2009. We began building the middle of that year and moved into Tumbleweed, our “first house” in June, 2010. We poured the slab for our “second house” Virga in September, 2009, though we didn’t really start construction on it until early 2011. In December, 2013, we finished Virga.<\/p>\n
A lot of unexpected things happened along the way. We’ve started growing a lot of our own food and have become “makers” both out of necessity and out of love. We’re working less (at least the kind of work that involves doing tasks for other people and getting paid for it — 2024 update: we have both quit working now) and enjoying life more. <\/p>\n
It’s been a great experience, and now we enjoying the good life here!<\/p>\n
