Believe it or not, we didn&#8217;t plant any. We planted all butternut. But the butternut these came from were growing close to Sonoran squash, and I understand that they can cross-breed. I guess this is evidence of that.<\/p>\n<p>After harvest, we put in a second bed of garlic and shallots for next year. Brad is getting very good at the alliums.<\/p>\n<p>While we were planting, we heard the first sandhill cranes of the season flying overhead. A definite sign that fall is here!<\/p>\n<p>Our tomatoes are still producing prolifically, and I have fall crops of lettuce and spinach coming up.<\/p>\n<p>It is also apple time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/apples.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2513\" title=\"apples\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/apples-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"apples\" width=\"489\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/apples-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/apples-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/apples.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll be making lots of apple pie filling, applesauce, and hopefully apple butter in the next week or two.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about it from here on the homestead for now! :)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was fall harvest day for the squash.
