{"id":2769,"date":"2012-06-12T19:08:52","date_gmt":"2012-06-13T02:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/?p=2769"},"modified":"2012-06-12T19:08:52","modified_gmt":"2012-06-13T02:08:52","slug":"fluff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/archives\/2769","title":{"rendered":"Fluff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So the insulation is in.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/insulation.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-2773\" title=\"insulation\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/insulation-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"380\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The material for this is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icynene.com\/\">Icynene<\/a>, apparently not made of soy as I&#8217;d thought, but rather from castor oil. It&#8217;s &#8220;low emission&#8221; and creates a tighter air seal than most anything else.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s water-based, and they spray it in with a tube. It comes out at 140 degrees, which made a hot day even hotter. (The truck the guys came in has a trailer with a big air conditioner in the back. Brad thought it was for the comfort of the installers, but it turned out it was actually for the material.)<\/p>\n<p>It sprays on pretty thin and then quickly expands. Kind of like Crazy Foam. Once dry, it has the consistency of very dry angel food cake.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/43928082\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On the walls that are double (or will be), they foamed in about 5 inches, which is less space than we have, so no trimming was needed. On the walls that will get adobe though, they needed to trim off the extra.
