I&#8217;m pretty sure this isn&#8217;t the best way to do it, but here&#8217;s what I did.<\/p>\n<p>First, I marked off the area where the inlay would go and cut the edges with a utility knife.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_6833.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-3465\" alt=\"IMG_6833\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_6833-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"401\" height=\"345\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I used a router to take out most of the wood in the inlay area (but didn&#8217;t go all the way to the edge).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_6836.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-3466\" alt=\"IMG_6836\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_6836-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"399\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_6836-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.kbtechworks.com\/kbranch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_6836-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next I used a chisel to remove the rest of the wood to the edge.
